Casual Elections to elect a Member of Parliament in the 5th, 12th, 2nd, 9th, 4th, 6th and 8th Electoral Divisions

CASUAL ELECTIONS TO ELECT A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT

IN THE 5th, 12th, 2nd, 9th, 4th, 6th and 8th ELECTORAL DIVISIONS

H.E. the President of the Republic has commissioned the Electoral Commission to hold casual elections in the Fifth, Twelfth, Second, Ninth, Fourth, Sixth and Eighth Electoral Divisions ceded respectively by Dr Joseph Muscat, Mr Evarist Bartolo, Dr Helena Dalli, Dr Michael Falzon, Mr Chris Fearne, Mr Silvio Schembri and Prof. Edward Scicluna.  The Writ is being published in today’s Government Gazette.  The Electoral Commission therefore notifies that it shall be receiving candidates’ nominations for casual elections to elect Members of Parliament for these electoral divisions.

Eligible candidates who contested the mentioned electoral divisions in the 3rd June, 2017 General Elections and who were not elected may present their nomination form daily from Wednesday 14th till Sunday the 18th June, 2017, at the Electoral Commission’s Office at Evans Building, Merchants Street, Valletta, between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm.  Nomination forms may be obtained from the Office of the Electoral Commission in Valletta.

The Electoral Commission further notifies that the counting of votes of this casual election shall take place as from 8.00 am of Tuesday, 20th June, 2017.
