Training of Election Personnel

 

The Electoral Commission is endeavouring to ensure that the services rendered by persons engaged during elections are of a high level.  This necessitates competency by the individuals undertaking particular categories of election work.  The Electoral Commission is organizing short training courses for those who would be interested in serving, during future elections, in these categories carrying a high degree of responsibility:

 

On the day of the poll:

 

1. Polling Place Officer,

2. Chairperson and

3. Assistant Commissioner

 

During the counting of ballot papers:

 

4. Calculator

5. Senior Supervisor

6. Supervisor and

7. Counting Assistant

 

It is expected that each course would be spread over different days and times.  The courses shall be free of charge and besides standard operating procedures, communication and leadership skills will also be addressed.  Those who would successfully complete a course would be granted preference in selection when the actual calls for engagement are issued as an election approaches.  Interested persons must apply only online through the Electoral Commission’s website: www.electoral.gov.mt between the 3rd and 31st October, 2016.  For authentication purposes applicants will need to be in possession of their Identity Card and a valid email address during the application process.
