The retirement of Joe Calleja, Secretary to the Electoral Commission

A farewell party was held on the 1st of July, 2015, at the Electoral Office in Valletta, in honour of Mr Joe Calleja, who has retired from service as Secretary to the Electoral Commission. Mr Calleja worked in the Public Service for over fifty years and had been deployed at the Electoral Office since the early 80s. He had been Secretary to the Commission for the past 23 years. In thanking Mr Calleja for his valid service and contribution, the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mr Joseph Church, wished him a long and healthy retirement. In the presence of all the Electoral Commissioners, Electoral Office Staff and other guests, Mr Church presented Mr Calleja with a farewell gift. In his usual “short and sweet” manner, Mr Calleja appreciated not only the farewell gathering but also the co-operation he experienced within the Electoral Office personnel and from all the present and former Electoral Commissioners.
