Persons to serve as Assistant Electoral Commissioners; Counters; Supervisors; Party Agents; Counting Agents; and Delivery Agents
NOTICE BY THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION
Local Councils' Elections - March 2006
The Electoral Commission notifies the political parties contesting the elections for the Local Councils' of Mdina, Bormla, Żabbar, Rabat (G), Birkirkara, Fgura, Gudja, Għarb, Għaxaq, Kalkara, Lija, Marsaskala, Mġarr, Msida, Naxxar, Pieta’, Rabat, San Ġwann, Sannat, Sliema, Tarxien, Xgħajra and Mtarfa and any person or any group of persons contesting the election of a Local Council as one group bearing the same name, that according to regulations 27(1), 55(3) and 30(3) of the Third Schedule of the Local Councils' Act 1993, they have up to Thursday 2nd February 2006 to submit to the Electoral Commission lists wherein they nominate persons to serve as Assistant Electoral Commissioners, Counters, Supervisors and Party Agents.
Political parties may submit up to Saturday 18th February, 2006 to the Electoral Commission a list of names of persons to serve as Counting Agents. The number of Counting Agents must be equal to the number of candidates contesting the election with that party in the respective locality.
The political parties are also reminded that according to regulations 54(1) and 46(6E) of the same Act, they may up to Saturday 18th February 2006 nominate persons to serve as Delivery Agents and Transport Agents. The number of Delivery Agents shall not be more than two for each locality being contested, as established by the Electoral Commission, and the number of Transport Agents shall be equal to the number of vehicles used to convey Assistant Electoral Commissioners and Ballot Boxes.
Nomination forms for prospective candidates may be obtained from the Electoral Office, Evans Building, St. Elmo Square, Valletta and the Identity Cards Office, 7A, Republic Street, Victoria, Gozo, between Monday 23rd January and Saturday 4th February 2006.
Nominations of candidates will be received by the Electoral Commission between Thursday 2nd and Saturday 4th February 2006 from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
