NOTICE BY THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION

The Electoral Commission of Malta, in collaboration with SCYTL Corporation, an international leader in election management, has hosted a one-day Seminar at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on “Creating efficiencies in Malta election results consolidation processes”. This seminar focused on the possibilities of reducing the time factor in the counting of ballot papers during elections. The seminar served as the initial exploratory step towards the eventual introduction of innovative technology on this subject in Malta. Case studies of counting processes in countries where the single transferable vote-counting system by means of electronic scanners which are already functional were discussed. The Seminar also touched on the importance of e-voting in today’s world. Chaired by the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mr Joseph Church, the seminar speakers included high officials from SCYTL Corporation, the Labour Party, the Nationalist Party, Professors from the University of Barcelona, the Electoral Commissioner of the Australian Capital Territory (Canberra) and from the Ministry of Overseas Affairs of France.
