NOTICE BY THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION
Election for Members of the European Parliament and Local Councils' Elections – 6 June 2009
The Electoral Commission notifies that it will receive applications from persons registered as voters on the 31st March, 2009, to serve as Assistant Electoral Commissioners or to serve as counters, supervisors or calculators during the counting of votes in the forthcoming election for Members of the European Parliament and for the Local Councils' Elections for the localities of Mdina, Bormla, Żabbar, Rabat (G), Birkirkara, Fgura, Gudja, Għarb, Għaxaq, Kalkara, Lija, Marsaskala, Mġarr, Msida, Naxxar, Pieta’, Rabat (M), San Ġwann, Sannat, Sliema, Tarxien, Xgħajra and Mtarfa. These elections shall be held concurrently on Saturday 6th June, 2009.
Voters who shall be registered in localities where Local Councils’ elections are being held cannot apply to serve as Assistant Electoral Commissioners in any election. They may however apply to serve during the counting of votes for the aforementioned localities except for that locality under which they are registered as voters and for the counting of votes in the election for the Members of the European Parliament. However, applicants for counting duties should, if eventually selected, be free to attend to their assigned shift without problems of employment or conditions of any other type during all hours including week days.
Applications will be received by the Electoral Commission at its Office, Evans Building, St. Elmo Square, Valletta, and for persons residing in Gozo at the Identity Cards Office, 28A, St. Francis Square, Rabat, Gozo, from Tuesday 10th March up to Tuesday 17th March, 2009, from 3.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. except on Sunday 15th March. On Saturday 14th March applications will be received from 8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Application forms, the only ones admissable, may be obtained from the Electoral Office on the above mentioned dates and times.
