Local Councils' Elections, March 2006
NOTICE BY THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION
LOCAL COUNCILS' ELECTIONS - MARCH 2006
As previously announced, the Electoral Commission is distributing uncollected voting documents at the Electoral Office, Valletta and at the Identity Cards Office, Victoria, Gozo, for voters registered in Gozo.
The Electoral Commission requests the co-operation of the public as follows:
a. Voters who are unable to walk should be brought to the Electoral Office, Evans Building, Valletta by a private car. The Electoral Commission recommends that in such cases there should be another person accompanying the driver and the voter so that the accompanying person could present the voter's I.D. Card to one of the Commissioners and indicate to him the place where the voter in the parked car is.
b. The same service applies to voters in Gozo who are unable to go out of a private car near the Identity Cards Office, 7A, Republic Street, Victoria, Gozo.
c. In cases where elderly and sick persons are unable to be brought by a private car to collect their document, the Commission shall make an effort to deliver the document at their residence. For this purpose, the Electoral Commission requests that a relative of these voters should call or contact the Electoral Offce on 21221994 or 25583300 to furnish the necessary details.
The Electoral Commission requests the co-operation of the public to avail themselves of this service only in cases of justified necessity and to apply for the service as early as possible. The Electoral Commission cannot guarantee the home delivery of voting documents if the request is made late. This especially applies to voters requesting their document from Gozo to Malta and vice-versa.
The Electoral Commission also reminds all those persons collecting their voting document that they must present their identity card.
The Electoral Commission finally notifies that a public transport service (no. 98) is available from City Gate, Valletta, passing in the vicinity of Evans Building and back to City Gate.
Without the voting document, no one would be allowed to vote on polling day, Saturday, 11th March, 2006.
