The Electoral Commission notifies that any person wishing to inspect any such return or declaration, or any person wishing to obtain copies of same may do so at the Office of the Electoral Commission, Ex-Trade Fair Grounds, In-Naxxar, from Monday 13th to Friday 17th July, 2026, from 9.00 a.m. to noon on payment of the prescibed fee.

Candidates who stood for the General Election – May 2026

The Electoral Commission reminds candidates who stood for the General Election and who have not yet submitted their income and expenditure sworn report of their electoral campaign, that by law they have until Monday, 6th July, 2026 to do so. Whosoever fails to submit such report or submits it late would be breaching the provisions in regulations 41 to 52 of the Fourteenth Schedule in the General Elections Act (Cap. 354) and would be liable to the stipulated consequences.

Nominations of Candidates

The Electoral Commission notifies that it will receive nominations by candidates for the Casual Elections to elect Councillors in the Local Councils of Birkirkara, Marsaskala, Is-Siġġiewi, Ħal Għargħur, Il-Gżira and Il-Mosta, after the positions of elected Councillors were declared vacant, since the Councillors were elected as Members of the House of Representatives.

Candidates may submit their nomination personally at the Electoral Commission Office, In-Naxxar as from tomorrow Wednesday, 24th June, up to Friday, 26th June 2026 between 10:00am and 12:00 noon, or online through the link /nominations, as from tomorrow, Wednesday, 24th June at 10:00am up to Friday, 26th June 2026, at noon.

Prospective candidates are advised that they must present their Identity Card. In case of illness or being abroad, the nomination form needs to be submitted by a representative of the candidate. The representative must present a power of attorney drawn up exclusively for this purpose and authenticated by a notary public. A deposit of €90 is applicable with every nomination.

Nomination forms for prospective candidates may be obtained from the Office of the Electoral Commission during nomination days.

CASUAL ELECTION TO ELECT A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

IN THE 3rd ELECTORAL DIVISION

H.E. the President of the Republic has commissioned the Electoral Commission to hold a casual election in the Third Electoral Division ceded by Hon. Carmelo Abela. The Writ is being published in today’s Government Gazette. The Electoral Commission therefore notifies that it shall be receiving candidates’ nominations for a casual election to elect a Member of the House of Representatives for this electoral division.

Eligible candidates who contested the mentioned electoral division in the 30th May, 2026 General Election and who were not elected may present their nomination form daily from Friday 19th till Tuesday the 23rd June, 2026, at the Electoral Commission’s Office at Ex-Trade Fair Grounds, In-Naxxar, between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm. Online applications may be submitted through the website www.electoral.gov.mt as from 9.00 am of Friday 19^th June 2026, till 12.00 pm of Tuesday, 23^rd June, 2026.
